Characteristics of the Binding of Ca 2 + and Other Divalent Metal Ions to Bovine a
Removal of the tightly bound Ca2+ ion from bovine a-lactalbumin (Hiraoka et al. (1980) Biochem. Biophys. Res. Commun. 95, 1098-1104) produces a pronounced conformational change, as indicated by fluorescence and absorbance changes. These changes closely resemble the changes that occur on acid denaturation of the native protein. The binding of ions to apo-a-lactalbumin at pH 7.4 has been examined...
متن کاملModeling the sorption kinetics of divalent metal ions to hematite.
The sorption kinetics of the divalent metals Zn, Co, Ni, and Cd to hematite were studied in single sorbate systems with high sorbate/sorbent ratios (from 1.67 to 3.33mol sorbate/mol sorption sites) in 10mM Na-piperazine N,N'-bis 2-ethane sulfonic acid (Na-PIPES) solution at pH 6.8. The experimental data showed a rapid initial sorption (half-time about 1min) followed by slower sorption that cont...
متن کاملEngineered allosteric ribozymes that respond to specific divalent metal ions
In vitro selection was used to isolate five classes of allosteric hammerhead ribozymes that are triggered by binding to certain divalent metal ion effectors. Each of these ribozyme classes are similarly activated by Mn2+, Fe2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Zn2+ and Cd2+, but their allosteric binding sites reject other divalent metals such as Mg2+, Ca2+ and Sr2+. Through a more comprehensive survey of cations, i...
متن کاملA cross reactive sensor array to probe divalent metal ions.
A simple sensing ensemble was designed to discriminate structurally similar divalent metal chlorides utilizing multivariate data analysis. The system features the binding of four synthesized coumarin-enamine probes to a series of ten metal chlorides. Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) achieves what univariate data analysis alone cannot i.e., full analyte discrimination and differentiation.
متن کاملInteractions of Some Divalent Metal Ions with Thymine and Uracil Thiosemicarbazide Derivatives.
The study of interactions between metal ions and nucleobases, nucleosides, nucleotides, or nucleic acids has become an active research area in chemical, biological, and therapeutic fields. In this respect, the coordination behavior of nucleobase derivatives to transition metals was studied in order to get a better understanding about DNA-metal interactions in in vitro and in vivo systems. Two n...
